OUR HISTORY

Word of Life Christian College and Career Development Center's purpose is to establish the believer in the infallible Word of God, to promote the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This institution is dedicated to the excellence of Jesus Christ, and committed to inspire the students to excel in the personal call on their lives.

On October 30, 1994, the dedicational service was held in the Word of Life Community Church by Dr. Edward N. Michaelson. Pastor Henry W. Roberts, II is the Founder/President of this prestigious, Spirit-filled, accredited institution of Christian Education.

The school started with thirty enthusiastic students eager to achieve and obtain a greater understanding of the Bible and spiritual truths on the campus of what is now the Word of Life Community Church in Whistler, Alabama, at 1682 S. Atmore Ave.  The students would meet two Saturdays out of each month, and on Monday and Thursday nights the classes were scheduled for three hour periods to meet the required clock hours to obtain three credit hours for each class.  So, students that had been working in respective ministries for years were allowed life application credits to be assessed through the Bachelor-level of their academic goals.  Small class size allowed for that personal, one-on-one instruction for instructors, which allowed not only for great instruction to proceed, but also a personal level of impartation to be released into the heart of each student.

The college was divided into two primary sections, including a school of ministry which allowed for those students who did not have a high school diploma or GED to still be able to obtain practical and systematic theology, to enhance and enrich their spiritual and ministerial growth.  The second division was the theological seminary, where students that had achieved a high school diploma or GED or higher can obtain a college-level or postsecondary to doctoral degree.

In 2002, the college was moved to 351 South Craft Highway, Chickasaw, Alabama, in the main campus building.

In 2012 Dr. Roberts, seeing the need for credentialing for workforce readiness, developed the Career Development program where students may obtain career training and achieve a Certificate of Completion diploma in Early Childhood Education, Multimedia Service Industry, Culinary Arts, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and Phlebotomy, and Office Administration.

Philosophy of the College

Word of Life Christian College and Career Development Center is committed to the education of persons preparing for service in Christian ministry. We place our confidence in the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father has sent in the name of Jesus, to teach us all things.

Word of Life Christian College and Career Development Center, through a high standard of educational excellence, believes that every individual can achieve optimum success in every area of their lives when they "study to show themselves approved unto God; a workman that needeth not be ashamed, but rightly dividing the Word of truth." Our goal is to aid in the development of the total man that he or she may achieve their true maximum potential. Long before a choice diamond is discovered it starts out as a piece of coal. Through one-on-one interpersonal instructor student relationships, the student is mentored and assisted through their educational experience as they see themselves evolve into the true gem that they are; no matter what socio-economic background they come from.

WOLCC will award degrees for completion of a prescribed course of study. WOLCC is committed to being a Friend who helps this process of education to become an opportunity to many.

ABOUT WORD OF LIFE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
& CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

We Believe:

That the Bible, consisting of all the books of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God, a supernaturally given revelation without error or misstatement in moral and spiritual teachings and record of historical facts.

In the Triune—that the eternal God manifests Himself in three persons:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, but separate in personality and work.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious death and atonement through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal and visible return in power and glory.

That man was created in the image of God, that He was tempted by Satan and fell, and that because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for salvation.

That the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, though the omnipresent from all eternity, took up His abode in the world in a special sense on the day of Pentecost according to the divine promise and dwells in every believer; and that the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit in the lives of believers are visible demonstrations of His presence.

In the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost:  those who are saved unto the resurrection of life and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

That God’s plan for this age as expressed in the great commission involves evangelizing of the world through the witness of every believer in Jesus Christ, the making of disciples through the teaching of His Word in the local church as a means of accomplishing His purpose.
