SCHOOL OF MINISTRY

HIS-403 Old Testament Survey

3 Units An introductory survey of the Old Testament, examining its historical background, literary structure, and major theological themes, including God’s covenantal relationship with His people.

 

HIS-404 New Testament Survey

3 Units A foundational overview of the New Testament focusing on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, the development of the early Church, and core Christian teachings.

 

MIN-101 Christian Ministry

3 Units An introduction to Christian ministry principles, including servant leadership, ministry ethics, church structure, and effective service within the local church and community. 

 

DOC-102 The Holy Spirit and His Gifts

3 Units A doctrinal study of the person and work of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing spiritual gifts, empowerment for ministry, and the Spirit’s role in the life of the believer and the Church.

 

DOC-104 Principles of Faith

3 Units A study of foundational principles of Christian faith, focusing on belief, trust in God, obedience, and the application of faith in daily Christian living and ministry.

 

DOC-103 Foundations of Christian Doctrine

3 Units An introduction to essential Christian doctrines, including Scripture, God, salvation, the Church, and Christian living, providing a solid doctrinal foundation for ministry.

ASSOCIATE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES (ABS)

60 Credit Units

The Associate of Biblical Studies (ABS) degree is designed to provide students with a strong foundational understanding of the Bible, Christian theology, church history, and practical ministry skills. This program equips students for effective Christian service, ministry leadership development, and continued theological education. Emphasis is placed on biblical literacy, doctrinal clarity, spiritual formation, and hands-on ministry experience.

 

The ABS degree consists of 30 core units and 30 elective units. A minimum of 15 units must be completed through Word Of Life Christian College (WOLCC) or an approved affiliate center. Up to 45 units may be earned through transfer credit or assessment, provided they meet institutional and degree requirements.

Bib-200 Old Testament Survey (3 Units)

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the Old Testament, examining its historical background, literary structure, major themes, and theological significance. Students will explore the Law, Historical Books, Poetry, and Prophets, gaining an understanding of God’s covenantal relationship with His people and the foundation these texts provide for New Testament theology.

 

Bib-203 New Testament Survey (3 Units)

A general introduction to the New Testament, this course examines the historical context, authorship, audience, and theological themes of each book. Emphasis is placed on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, the development of the early church, and the doctrinal teachings that shape Christian faith and practice.

 

Bib-205 The Synoptic Gospels (3 Units)

This course focuses on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, emphasizing their similarities, differences, and unique theological emphases. Students will analyze the life, teachings, miracles, and parables of Jesus Christ while exploring the purpose and audience of each Gospel.

 

Bib-413 The Gospel of John (3 Units)

An in-depth study of the Gospel of John, this course highlights its distinct theological perspective, Christology, symbolism, and emphasis on belief. Students will examine the signs, discourses, and purpose statements that reveal Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the world. 

 

THEOLOGY / HISTORY DEPARTMENT His-140 Church History (3 Units)

This course surveys the historical development of the Christian Church from the apostolic era to the modern period. Topics include early church growth, major councils, doctrinal developments, reform movements, denominational formation, and the church’s role in society.

 

Thy-201 Christian Theology (13 Units)

A foundational study of Christian doctrine, this course introduces students to core theological concepts including the doctrine of God, Christology, Pneumatology, Salvation, the Church, and Last Things. Emphasis is placed on biblical foundations, historical perspectives, and practical application of sound doctrine in Christian life and ministry.

 

Min-206 Evangelism I PRACTICAL THEOLOGY / MINISTRIES DEPARTMENT (3 Units)

This course introduces the principles and practices of Christian evangelism. Students will learn biblical models of evangelism, personal witnessing techniques, and methods for sharing the Gospel effectively in diverse cultural and social contexts.

 

Min-140 Ministries Orientation (3 Units)

An introductory course designed to orient students to Christian ministry and service. Topics include ministry ethics, leadership development, spiritual disciplines, church structure, and an overview of ministry opportunities within the local church and community. 

Min-141 ABC Ministry Lab (3 Units)

This supervised ministry practicum provides hands-on experience in church or community-based ministry. Students apply classroom learning through practical service, developing ministry skills, accountability, and reflective evaluation.

 

Min-241 ABC Ministry Lab (3 Units)

A continuation of the Ministry Lab experience, this course emphasizes increased responsibility and leadership in ministry settings. Students further develop practical competencies, ministry planning skills, and spiritual maturity through guided fieldwork and mentoring.

BACHELOR OF BIBLICAL STUDIES (BBS)

120 Credit Units

 

The Bachelor of Biblical Studies (BBS) degree is designed to provide students with an advanced and comprehensive education in Biblical Studies, Christian Theology, Church History, and Practical Ministry. This program builds upon foundational biblical knowledge and equips students with the academic depth, spiritual maturity, and ministry competence necessary for leadership roles within the church, faith-based organizations, counseling ministries, and continued graduate-level theological education. The BBS program emphasizes biblical interpretation, doctrinal understanding, historical awareness, and practical application of Scripture. Students are trained to critically engage biblical texts, articulate Christian doctrine, minister effectively in diverse contexts, and integrate faith with service through structured ministry experiences. The Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree consists of 120 total credit units, including 60 core units and 60 elective units. Core units provide structured theological and ministry training, while elective units allow students to pursue focused areas of interest. Qualified credits may be earned through transfer or assessment, provided they meet institutional and degree requirements.

An in-depth study of the first five books of the Bible, focusing on authorship, historical context, covenant theology, and foundational doctrines. Emphasis is placed on God’s redemptive plan as revealed through the Law and early Israelite history.

 

Bib-203 New Testament Survey (3 Units)

This course introduces the books of the New Testament, exploring historical background, authorship, audience, and theological themes. Special attention is given to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and the development of the early Church.

 

Bib-205A The Synoptic Gospels (3 Units)

A focused study of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, emphasizing their shared narratives, distinct perspectives, and theological purposes. Students examine the ministry, teachings, parables, and miracles of Jesus Christ within their historical and cultural contexts.

 

Bib-207 The Book of Acts (3 Units)

An examination of the Acts of the Apostles, highlighting the expansion of the early Church, the work of the Holy Spirit, apostolic leadership, and the spread of the Gospel. Emphasis is placed on mission, church growth, and practical ministry principles.

CHURCH HISTORY His-140

Beginning Church History (3 Units) A survey of the historical development of Christianity from the apostolic era through the early church. Topics include persecution, doctrinal formation, councils, and the growth of the Christian movement.

 

His-250 Directed Research in Church History (3 Units)

This course engages students in guided historical research, emphasizing critical analysis of significant periods, movements, leaders, or doctrinal developments within Church history.

 

THEOLOGY Thy-201 Christian Theology I (3 Units)

An introduction to foundational Christian doctrines, including the doctrine of God, Scripture, humanity, and sin. Emphasis is placed on biblical foundations and theological clarity.

 

Thy-201 Christian Theology II (3 Units)

A continuation of Christian Theology I, focusing on Christology, Pneumatology, Salvation, the Church, and Eschatology. 

 

Thy-202 Hermeneutics (3 Units)

A study of biblical interpretation principles, equipping students with tools for accurate exegesis and application of Scripture in teaching and ministry contexts.

 

Thy-204 Systematic Theology (3 Units)

An organized study of Christian doctrine, examining theological systems and their biblical foundations to promote doctrinal coherence and sound belief.

 

Thy-416 Apologetics (3 Units)

This course trains students to defend the Christian faith through biblical, theological, and philosophical reasoning. Emphasis is placed on responding to contemporary challenges to Christianity.

PRACTICAL THEOLOGY & MINISTRY Practical Theology (3 Units)

An applied course integrating theological knowledge with real-world ministry practice. Students explore pastoral care, leadership, ethics, and ministry effectiveness.

An introduction to Christian counseling principles, combining biblical foundations with practical methods for providing spiritual guidance and support. 

 

Min-155 Homiletics I (3 Units)

A foundational preaching course focusing on sermon preparation, biblical exposition, and effective communication of Scripture. 

 

Min-206 Evangelism I (3 Units)

A study of biblical evangelism, personal witnessing, and outreach strategies for sharing the Gospel in diverse cultural and social contexts. 

 

Min-104 Ministries Orientation (3 Units)

An introductory course examining ministry roles, ethics, leadership development, and service opportunities within the church and community. 

 

ABC Ministry Labs I–IV (3 Units each)

Supervised ministry practicums designed to provide hands-on ministry experience. Students progressively develop leadership skills, ministry planning abilities, accountability, and spiritual maturity through guided service and mentorship.

Rational Pastoral Theology (3 Units) This course explores the integration of theology, reason, and practical ministry application within contemporary pastoral leadership. Emphasis is placed on developing a rational, biblically grounded approach to pastoral care, ethical decision-making, counseling, and leadership in diverse ministry contexts. Students will critically examine theological frameworks and apply them to real-world pastoral challenges while maintaining doctrinal integrity and spiritual sensitivity.

Homiletics II (3 Units) Homiletics II advances the art and science of biblical preaching with a focus on expository, thematic, and contextual sermon development. Students refine delivery techniques, sermon structure, and audience engagement while addressing cultural, social, and congregational dynamics. Special attention is given to prophetic preaching, pastoral preaching, and preaching for transformational outcomes in the local church.

Church Records (2 Units) This course provides comprehensive instruction in the management, organization, and preservation of church records. Topics include legal and ethical responsibilities, membership records, financial documentation, sacramental records, historical archives, and digital record-keeping systems. Students will develop policies and procedures that ensure accountability, compliance, and institutional continuity within ministry organizations.

The Church Library (2 Units) The Church Library course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to establish, manage, and maintain a functional ministry resource center. Instruction includes collection development, cataloging, theological research resources, digital libraries, and educational support services. Emphasis is placed on using the church library as a tool for discipleship, leadership development, and lifelong learning within the faith community.

Church Officers (2 Units) This course examines the biblical, historical, and practical roles of church officers, including pastors, elders, deacons, trustees, and ministry leaders. Students analyze leadership qualifications, governance structures, authority, accountability, and conflict resolution. The course prepares ministry leaders to develop effective leadership teams that operate with clarity, unity, and biblical order.

 

MIN-660

Ministry Internship (12 Units) The Ministry Internship is a supervised, practical ministry experience designed to integrate academic learning with hands-on ministry leadership. Students engage in advanced ministerial practice within their local church or approved ministry setting, focusing on leadership development, program implementation, pastoral responsibilities, and community engagement. The internship culminates in reflective evaluations, ministry assessments, and documented outcomes demonstrating professional and spiritual growth.
